About The Position

Under general supervision, the Payroll Clerk provides a wide variety of general clerical and administrative duties to support the processing of payroll, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.

Requirements

  • Education, training, and/or experience that demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting; and 1-3 years of experience with payroll processing and reports, prior detail-oriented experience in which prioritization and organization skills were necessary; experience working with deadlines in a fast-paced environment; ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, to include Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook; data entry, spreadsheet and word processing programs; use various computer applications proficiently on a daily basis to review schedules, update, track, and research status or criteria, and/or produce reports; clerical accounting methods, forms, and techniques; office practices and procedures related to processing and recording accounting and bookkeeping transactions.
  • Ability to use copy, scanners, and postal meters in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to initiate prompt and professional responses to co-workers, and other individuals; maintain confidentiality and follow privacy laws, rules and regulations and procedures in regards to record keeping, using appropriate judgment in answering questions, releasing information considering the consequences of disclosure.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in processing bi-weekly payroll for CDA employees, including the processing of garnishments, levies, and deductions.
  • Verify employee timesheets, hours worked, and leave requests; assist in the resolution of discrepancies with supervisors and staff.
  • Prepare payroll-related reports, including wage summaries, tax filings, and benefit deductions.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure payroll changes (e.g., promotions, pay adjustments, benefits) are accurately reflected.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to employee inquiries regarding payroll and deductions.
  • Assist with audits and maintain secure payroll files and documentation.
  • Support annual W-2 distribution and related tax reporting.
  • May perform various other duties and/or projects, as assigned.
