As a Payroll Clerk at the Birks Group, you’ll play a key role in ensuring payroll support for a seamless payroll experience for employees across Canada. You will support payroll processing, benefits administration, and employee data management with accuracy, confidentiality, and care — helping us deliver the same level of excellence internally that we bring to our customers every day. Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field (a strong asset).
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in payroll processing.
  • Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now (WFN) or similar payroll systems.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and French.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
  • Solid understanding of Canadian payroll legislation and employment standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and a customer-service mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in payroll processing.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in processing bi-weekly payroll for Canadian employees using ADP Workforce Now (WFN).
  • Review and validate timecard entries for hourly employees.
  • Support the Payroll Manager in entering commissions, bonuses, and other incentive payments.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee payroll records.
  • Process documentation for new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, and other employee changes.
  • Assist in managing time-off policies and tracking leave balances.
  • Support group benefits administration, including enrollments, terminations, and monthly invoice reconciliations.
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees across retail locations and the head office.
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports and summaries as requested.
  • Assist with payroll audits and ensure compliance with federal and provincial payroll regulations.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams on payroll-related matters.
  • Participate in special projects and contribute to process improvements as assigned by the Payroll Manager.
  • Perform any other related duties as required.
