About The Position

The Payroll Clerk is responsible for processing payroll accurately and efficiently, answering team member questions, preparing reports, and maintaining team member files. This role requires a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality. The position involves working with various information systems and collaborating with HR, Accounting, and Supervisors.

Requirements

  • Strong payroll background with 2 plus years’ experience with accounting or another business-related field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Microsoft Office software programs.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Organized and accurate.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite products and proficient math skills.
  • Ability to work independently, make sound decisions under pressure, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and critical thinking skills when dealing with employees and the public.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in accounting, business or another related field.
  • 2-4 years’ experience in a payroll processing position.
  • 1 year experience in human resources.

Responsibilities

  • Promote Company Purpose, Mission, and Vision statements while living Company Values.
  • Answer team member questions related to payroll or other employment policies; troubleshoot errors/issues and respond in a timely manner.
  • Complete weekly payroll processing steps in a timely, efficient and accurate manner and work with supervisors on discrepancies in data.
  • Prepare, process, and submit certified payroll reports and employee documentation in full compliance with prevailing wage and labor regulations when required.
  • Pre-audit data and verify authenticity of output in daily payroll and file maintenance.
  • Resolve problems concerning payroll and ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
  • Work with PRSS to assure accurate information/data in the payroll module.
  • Balance payroll runs.
  • Review wages and correct errors to ensure accuracy.
  • Record changes affecting new wages for each employee.
  • Complete timecard data entry or import from external sources.
  • Submit Davis-Bacon trust transfer amount weekly, coordinate monthly Davis Bacon deposit, verify certified payroll reporting and sub-contractors reports and report non-scale jobs information for federal or state reporting.
  • Prepare manual payroll drafts as required for errors or terminations in coordination with Payroll Shared Services.
  • Verify accuracy of re-employment earnings and hours.
  • Verify child support and wage garnishments with Payroll Shared Services.
  • Interact and communicate with HR, Accounting and Supervisors on a continual basis.
  • Perform data entry into UKG, Workforce Central and/or other Information Systems as required.
  • Maintain records regarding leave, company sponsored, State, and/or Federal, utilized by team members.
  • Prepare and maintain team member files.
  • Prepare new employee orientation materials and assist with onboarding.
  • Assist human resources and/or administrative team with various tasks and special projects.
  • Always work safe and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
  • Performs such similar, comparable or related duties as may be assigned or required.
