We are seeking a Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join our team in Sioux Falls, SD. In this role, you will provide comprehensive payroll operations and benefits administration for our entire TAK workforce, ensuring precision, compliance, and operational excellence across multiple platforms. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of our compensation and benefits systems while providing strategic guidance on payroll and benefits policy compliance. This is a hybrid role that begins with full-time training in the Sioux Falls office for several weeks. After training, you will transition to a predetermined schedule, splitting your time between the office and your home workspace each week.

Requirements

  • 3+ years payroll and benefits administration experience required
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellence in written and verbal communication
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
  • Experience with HRIS systems and time/attendance platforms
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Must provide a valid government-issued photo ID for verification; a driver’s license is required if the role involves driving
  • Passing of all pre-employment requirements (MVR, Background Check, Drug Screen)

Nice To Haves

  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or equivalent a plus
  • Experience processing multi-state payroll preferred

Responsibilities

  • Administer end-to-end payroll processing via Paylocity and proprietary systems
  • Manage complex compensation structures including piece work calculations and prevailing wage requirements
  • Process weekly, bi-weekly and special payrolls while maintaining strict deadlines and accuracy standards
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of multi-state payroll policies and procedures
  • Calculate retroactive payments and adjustments as needed
  • Serve as primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries from employees and management
  • Provide guidance on payroll policies and procedures to staff and department heads
  • Partner with HR team on compensation-related projects and initiatives
  • Participate in the full-cycle benefits administration including open enrollment, new hire enrollment, and qualifying life events
  • Process benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations in HRIS systems
  • Provide support with reconciling monthly carrier invoices and resolving discrepancies as needed
  • Process employee garnishments by reviewing and validating orders, coordinating submissions through payroll systems, notifying employees, and responding to related inquiries
  • Conduct benefits orientation sessions for new employees
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive payroll and benefit information
  • Generate various payroll and benefit reports
