About The Position

Ryder is seeking a Payroll Associate II for a full-time, permanent position. This role is responsible for compiling and recording employee time and payroll data for the weekly payroll cycle. The associate will compute and post wages and deductions, and may manually prepare paychecks. This is a remote position based in Canada, with a shift of Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM, requiring flexibility for extended hours on Tuesdays as needed.

Requirements

  • One (1) year or more experience with payroll working knowledge.

  • Strong knowledge of payroll practices; intermediate level.
  • Authorization to work in Canada.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational/Professional diploma in accounting related studies preferred.
  • Vocational/Professional diploma in Payroll Compliance preferred.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
  • Payroll certification through the National Payroll Institute (PCP/CPM) preferred.
  • One (1) year or more experience in payroll processing for 1000+ employees preferred.
  • 0 to One (1) year experience with multi-provincial payroll preferred.
  • 0 to One (1) year experience in customer service preferred.
  • Proficient in French written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Workday, HR/Payroll systems; intermediate level; preferred.
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (Upon Hire, preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Compile and record employee time and payroll data for weekly payroll cycle.
  • Compute and post wages and deductions, or manually prepare paychecks.
  • Import, balance, and process weekly payroll via various payroll timekeeping systems.
  • Verify received payroll data for accuracy, compliance, and approvals, informing managers of any discrepancies.
  • Reconcile and balance weekly processed payroll against payroll registers.
  • Ensure internal payroll controls are adhered to, including Ryder Internal Audit processes, overtime calculation validation, review of audit reports, and validation of payroll batch file transfers.
  • Assist managers, employees, HR, and locations with payroll-related inquiries.
  • Perform payroll output verification and processing, including balancing, running reports, preparing mail couriers, and updating spreadsheets.
  • Track employee vacation accruals and process weekly vacation requests.
  • Follow up with location managers to resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist with special projects and provide backup for other payroll cycles as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
