About The Position

Tri-City Group is currently seeking a Payroll Assistant for its Davenport, IA office. The Payroll Assistant plays a critical role in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time. Key responsibilities include collecting timesheets, entering data into payroll systems, and calculating wages, deductions, and taxes. This position also involves maintaining confidential employee records, resolving payroll discrepancies, and assisting with HR-related tasks, including onboarding, company payroll calculations, and payroll data collection and entry. Candidates must demonstrate strong attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment. Critical thinking skills are necessary to resolve discrepancies. Proficiency in Excel and payroll software, effective communication, a proactive approach to follow-up, and the ability to collaborate with teams are required to ensure accurate financial reporting and timely project execution. Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma required; a degree in accounting or finance is preferred.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of previous payroll experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, and payroll software.
  • Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational abilities, and high integrity in handling confidential information.

Responsibilities

  • Payroll Processing: Assist with weekly payroll duties, including data entry, calculation of overtime, bonuses, and deductions.
  • Data Maintenance: Update and maintain employee files in the payroll system, including salary changes, tax withholdings, and benefits.
  • Verification: Review timesheets and attendance records for accuracy.
  • Employee Support: Serve as the primary contact for payroll-related questions and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
  • Reporting: Assist in generating payroll reports and help prepare for audits or year-end tax filings (such as W-2s).
