We are currently looking for a full-time PAYROLL AND PAYMENTS SPECIALIST. The mission of the Payroll and Payments Specialist position is to ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll and payments for employees and independent contractors. Additionally, the Specialist would be responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant policies, procedures and regulations. Common tasks will include, but not be limited to, updating payroll records, preparing and processing semi-monthly payroll, and tracking garnishments. The Payroll and Payments Specialist serves as a key liaison between the organization and its employees, as well as with independent contractors, ensuring clear communication and efficient transaction processing.

Requirements

  • G.E.D. or HS Diploma required
  • Three years of payroll experience
  • Experience working with payroll software
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and experience working in multiple online systems
  • Experience in a role that required a high degree of confidentiality
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check, obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card, provide proof of a valid driver's license, insurance, registration and meet all other hiring requirements during onboarding

Nice To Haves

  • Human services, behavioral health care, or non-profit experience a plus
  • Possess working knowledge of accounting software, preferably Paylocity
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Flexible and able to adapt to changing processes and systems
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Accurately process payroll for employees, including calculating wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate distribution of payroll on a semi-monthly basis using Paylocity software.
  • Maintain and update payroll records in compliance with AZA policies and procedures and federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Prepare reports of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
  • Accurately process payments to independent contractors on a semi-monthly basis.
  • Run reports and verify accuracy of data in preparation of payroll.
  • Verify 1099 and W-2 accuracy.
  • Update and maintain accurate records with precise attention to detail.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources (HR) and accounting teams.
  • Perform related tasks and projects as needed.
