About The Position

Employees of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia (Assembly) provide professional non-partisan services to support the democratic institution of Parliament and its members through procedural advice, administrative support and information services. The Assembly is an autonomous employer, separate from the administrative framework of B.C. government ministries and agencies. The Human Resource Operations department is seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and responsive individual for the auxiliary full-time position of Payroll and Benefits Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in business, accounting, or a related program.
  • At least 3 years of payroll and supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 16 years old.
  • Eligible to work in Canada.

Nice To Haves

  • Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation and/or Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) designation.
  • Experience using and/or implementing Workday or similar Enterprise Resource Planning software.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the delivery of accurate, timely, and compliant payroll and benefit services for a client group of approximately 900 employees.
  • Provides day-to-day leadership, coaching, and support to the payroll team, fostering a culture of accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversees payroll operations, ensuring compliance with all legislative and policy requirements.
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Drives process improvements.
  • Supports system optimization (including Workday).
  • Participates in audits to strengthen overall payroll and benefits service delivery.
