About The Position

Standard Motor Products, Inc. (SMP) is a leading independent manufacturer and distributor of premium automotive replacement parts. SMP sells its products primarily to automotive aftermarket retailers, program distribution groups, warehouse distributors, original equipment manufacturers, and original equipment service part operations in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, Mexico, and other Latin American countries. This temporary Payroll Analyst position supports the processing of payroll cycles, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations. The role involves assisting with wage garnishments, employment verifications, and managing employee data. The analyst will also perform payroll audits, resolve discrepancies, and support special payroll projects. Collaboration with HR, Benefits, and Finance is key to improving payroll processes.

Requirements

  • Experience with Dayforce payroll software strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, conditional formatting, and data analysis.
  • Strong understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and multi-state payroll practices.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and safeguard sensitive employee and payroll information.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of payroll processing experience in a multi-state, multi-location organization.
  • Experience performing payroll reconciliations, audits, and issue resolution required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting payroll-related projects, system implementations, process improvements, or data validation efforts preferred.
  • Dayforce experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the processing of weekly, bi-weekly, and semi-monthly payroll cycles, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Assist with wage garnishment administration, including responding to inquiries and uploading files for payroll processing.
  • Manage employment verification requests and route documentation to the appropriate departments.
  • Monitor employee address changes in Dayforce and maintain jurisdiction tracking records as needed.
  • Perform payroll audits and maintain payroll reconciliation spreadsheets on a weekly basis.
  • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Support payroll-related special projects, including data audits, process documentation, system testing, reporting, compliance reviews, and year-end activities.
  • Collaborate with HR, Benefits, Finance, and other internal stakeholders to support payroll initiatives and process improvements.
  • Perform additional payroll and administrative duties as assigned.
