About The Position

EY is seeking a Payroll Analyst for its People Advisory Services, Mobility, Global Shadow Payroll team. This role involves administering shadow payroll processes for companies with globally mobile employees, including business travelers and international assignees. The analyst will assist clients with shadow payroll withholding tax and social security compliance, manage compliance risks in host countries, and utilize technology tools for calculations and reporting. Key responsibilities include mapping home country wage types to taxability grids, calculating host country taxable income, conducting shadow payroll reporting (add to earnings, tax remittance instructions, registers, compensation summaries), and managing teams. The position requires delivering quality client services, demonstrating technical capabilities, maintaining client relationships, and cultivating business development opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, Law, Business or related field, plus 5 years of related work experience OR Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, Law or related field, plus 4 years of related work experience.
  • 4 years of experience in global payroll consulting at a multinational accounting, professional services or consulting firm.
  • 4 years of experience working on client servicing teams consisting of two or more staff members.
  • 2 years of experience determining shadow payroll withholding obligations and compliance risks.
  • 2 years of experience mapping home country wage types to taxability grids and calculating host country taxable income.
  • 2 years of experience with shadow payroll reporting, including add to earnings and tax remittance instructions, shadow payroll registers, and employee compensation summaries.
  • Must hold one of the following certifications: Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA); US state bar membership; SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP from the Society for Human Resource Management; Professional in Human Resources, Senior Professional in Human Resources or Global Professional in Human Resources qualification from the HR Certification Institute; Certified Payroll Professional (CPP); and/or a Master’s degree in business administration or a related field.
  • Requires domestic travel up to 10% to serve client needs.

Responsibilities

  • Administer shadow payroll processes for employers with globally mobile employees, including business travellers and inbound international assignees.
  • Assist companies with shadow payroll withholding tax and social security compliance obligations and multiple compliance risks in the host country or nonresident state.
  • Utilize approved technology tools to provide tax and social security shadow payroll calculations and reporting requirements for the respective countries concerned.
  • Map home country wage types and compensation to agreed host country taxability grids.
  • Calculate host country taxable income based on home country compensation provided by clients.
  • Conduct shadow payroll reporting, including add to earnings and tax remittance instructions, shadow payroll registers (globally and per country) and annual employee compensation summaries.
  • Manage and motivate teams of professionals with diverse skills and backgrounds.
  • Consistently deliver quality client services by monitoring progress.
  • Demonstrate in-depth technical capabilities and professional knowledge.
  • Maintain long-term client relationships and networks.
  • Cultivate business development opportunities.
