About The Position

RQ Construction is seeking a Payroll Accountant to join our Accounting/Finance team. This role owns the accuracy and integrity of our payroll accounting - from posting payroll and reconciling accounts to making sure labor costs land correctly on our projects. You'll work closely with our Accounting, Payroll, & HR teams and play a key role in keeping our financial reporting audit-ready. Since 1996, RQ Construction, LLC has been a leading player in Southern California's robust commercial and governmental Design-Build economy. We now have a national presence with current projects approaching $300M, spanning coast to coast. We are a full-service Design-Build company offering management of projects throughout the United States, with field operations team members who work on location for each of our projects. We specialize in fast-track projects in new commercial construction for both public and private clients, with a primary focus in the Department of Defense market.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required. Other education in conjunction with relevant experience may be considered.
  • 2+ years of payroll and accounting experience.
  • Experience working Oracle Human Capital Management and/or Oracle Fusion ERP required.
  • Experience in construction accounting preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office products.
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort working with compliance-heavy, audit-facing work.

  • Experience in construction accounting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own the payroll accounting cycle in Oracle - including posting to the general ledger weekly and monthly reconciliations of payroll, benefits, and Workers' Compensation accounts.
  • Maintain a high level of proficiency in the payroll and accounting software (Oracle Human Capital Management and Oracle Fusion ERP) and optimize their use to enhance internal processes and reporting.
  • Prepare documentation for audits (Workers' Comp, OSHA, internal/external) and keep payroll records compliance-ready.
  • Partner with Accounting, Payroll, and Operations departments to identify and resolve discrepancies and support budgeting and forecasting.
  • Take initiative to identify areas of improvement and implement changes.
