About The Position

San Luis Valley Health is seeking a full-time Payment Posting Specialist to join its Cash Posting team. The role uses technical and financial skills to track and manage patient cash flow and credit and insurance payments. The specialist reconciles daily deposit amounts against cash, credit cards, and checks; researches and resolves bank deposit discrepancies; and reverses payments or adjustments. The position also assists with patient accounting duties as determined by the Business Office Manager.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED equivalent.
• Type at a minimum rate of 50 WPM with at least 97% accuracy.
• Use a 10-key calculator at a minimum rate of 7,500 KPM with at least 97% accuracy; a typing test will be administered before employment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing demands.

Responsibilities

• Balance daily receipts and money, and prepare daily deposits for all SLV Health locations.
• Manage and document up-to-date income records and transactions.
• Accurately enter daily payment activities and receive insurance credit payments.
• Scan personal payments and statement tags received by mail, general ledger checks, and deposit tally sheets.
• Assist billing and customer service with patient financial services as needed.
• Research and resolve bank deposit discrepancies.
• Reverse payments and/or adjustments due to non-sufficient funds, closed accounts, and stop-payment notices received from banks.
• Properly separate and disburse daily correspondence from various insurance companies.
• Assist with timely and accurate billing of medical claims to insurance companies.
• Assist with follow-up on unpaid or denied claims.
• Perform projects and other responsibilities as determined by the Business Office Manager.
