About The Position

Rho is seeking a Payment Operations Associate to manage the company's day-to-day payment processing. This role involves processing client repayments, issuing rewards and credits, resolving payment exceptions, and updating credit and card program settings. The associate will collaborate with various teams including Credit Risk, Client Services, Fraud, Compliance, and the partner bank. The position is deadline-driven, detail-oriented, and directly impacts client statements and month-end closing procedures.

Requirements

  • 2+ years in payment operations, banking operations, treasury operations, or a similar function at a fintech, bank, or payment processor.
  • Working knowledge of payment rails: ACH, Fedwire, RTP, card networks, and remote deposit, including understanding payment failures, returns, and late settlements.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with a proven ability to reconcile and identify discrepancies.
  • Comfort with recurring hard deadlines and high transaction volume while maintaining accuracy.
  • Hands-on experience with operational tooling such as ticketing systems (Jira), BI dashboards (Looker), spreadsheets, and bank portals.
  • Clear written communication skills for coordinating across different internal teams.
  • Sound judgment in escalating issues, knowing when to resolve independently and when to involve Fraud, Credit, or Legal.

Responsibilities

  • Process client repayments, including running recurring ACH pulls, handling non-standard accounts, and processing interim payments, ensuring accuracy from initiation to posting.
  • Issue rewards, credits, and incentives, such as calculating and releasing cashback rewards, reconciling system figures, processing statement credits, sign-up bonuses, and promotional incentives, and providing cashback breakdowns to clients.
  • Maintain credit and card program settings by updating client credit limits, payment terms, statement cycles, and custom pricing, ensuring data consistency across systems and documenting all changes.
  • Manage wire operations, including handling trace requests, recalls, returns, and non-posted wires, and administering enrollments and limit changes for drawdown wire services.
  • Manage ACH operations by initiating ACH returns and reversals in compliance with NACHA rules and timeframes.
  • Support fraud and credit review by expediting settlement on approved transactions, holding transactions for review, managing RDC returns, and setting settlement delays or instant releases based on client credit risk.
  • Report on delinquency by producing weekly past-due reports and monitoring daily credit repayment returns and overdue balances for escalation.
  • Route compliance, fraud, and legal escalations, including flagging sanctions-related inquiries, forwarding legal notices, coordinating Letter of Indemnity and Hold Harmless requests, and requesting limit increases.
  • Support the Letter of Credit program by coordinating Standby Letters of Credit, funding collateral accounts, processing associated fees, and providing figures for month-end statements.
  • Improve processes by identifying automation opportunities, maintaining procedure documentation, and collaborating with Product and Engineering on payment workflow enhancements.
