About The Position

The Boeing Company's Commercial Aircraft (BCA) division is seeking Payloads Design Engineers, ranging from Mid-Level to Senior, to join their 777X Team in Everett, WA. The Payloads organization is responsible for the aircraft interior, cargo compartments, exterior markings, associated systems, and cabin safety. This role is crucial for fulfilling airline customer missions and representing their brands. The environment is fast-paced and dynamic, drawing from various engineering backgrounds. The selected candidate will be involved across the product lifecycle, including customer configuration development, supplier engagement, design requirement validation and verification, integration of business needs, and support through production and certification. The role requires interfacing with project engineering, production engineering, program/product teams, management, and technical staff to define and implement engineering solutions, leveraging the interiors organization's expertise to certify and deliver industry-leading interior products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering, including design, integration, and/or certification or equivalent combination of additional education and relevant experience

  • Experience leading a cross-functional team
  • Strong understanding and demonstrated experience with FAA Title 14 Part 25 and/or EASA equivalent
  • Experience in aerospace interiors, materials and properties, design criteria and release processes
  • 9+ years of experience in program or project management, leading project and/or program proposals of varying complexity (including: development and execution of schedule milestones, financial assessments, resource assessments, risk and/or issues management, etc.)
  • Demonstrates good problem solving skills and critical thinking
  • Ability to use a variety of media to clearly convey information and ideas to a variety of audiences
  • Demonstrated interest in continuous personal learning and development

Responsibilities

  • Leads the development, integration, and documentation of interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.
  • Performs or oversees approval of analyses and test/inspection results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Leads teams in managing supplier performance, test, and production activities, coordinating with suppliers to optimize design and achieve program goals.
  • Leads the development of new design/analysis processes and tools to improve the effectiveness, quality, and efficiency of the development effort.
  • Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
  • Leads teams to develop, maintain, and modify structural and interior payload system and component designs using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, providing product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers, and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.
