About The Position

Brown & Brown is seeking a Payables Processor to join their growing team in Garden City, NY. The Payables processor will be responsible for managing carrier accounting activities, including account reconciliation, carrier payables, balance resolution and premium corrections. This role will collaborate with carriers and underwriting teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure accurate financial records.

Requirements

School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one – three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proficient with MS Office.
Exceptional telephone demeanor.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business (preferred)
Insurance experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

Responsible for Account Current and/or Item Basis reports and reconciliation.
Responsible for Account Current and/or Item Basis Carrier payables.
Assists with premium corrections and day-to-day accounting issues with underwriting teams.
Correspond with carriers regarding balances & works with Carriers and/or underwriting teams to resolve issues and reconcile discrepancies.
Correspond with carriers to ensure return premium funds are collected timely and recorded appropriately.
Review, verify and process vendor invoices.
Responsible for reviewing and resolving outstanding checks aged 90 days or greater.
Assists with Direct bill commission payables to agencies.
Cross-trained in accounting functions to help fill-in covering vacations or any other absences.
