About The Position

AA Asphalting is the Pacific Northwest's leading asphalt and concrete restoration provider with over 45 years of experience, serving Washington and Oregon. We are looking for an experienced Paver Operator who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in completing jobs safely and efficiently. This role involves driving and operating pavers, as well as other equipment like backhoes, grinders, graders, lowboys, rollers, jackhammers, compressors, and trucks to perform tasks such as moving material, leveling, grading, and paving.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Class A CDL preferred.
  • Ability to follow all traffic regulations.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work weekends and occasional nights.
  • Ability to travel to various worksites.
  • Ability to work long hours and in all weather conditions.
  • Pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check required.

Responsibilities

  • Drives and operates pavers, backhoes, grinders, graders, lowboys, rollers, jackhammers, compressors, and trucks.
  • Performs tasks such as moving material, leveling, grading, and paving.
  • Checks equipment daily for oil, fluid levels, damage, and wear areas.
  • Fuels equipment daily.
  • Determines appropriate speed and direction for machine operation based on material compressibility and temperature to prevent ridges.
  • Understands all aspects of the paving industry, including prep work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, and compaction.
  • Reports equipment damage or required repairs to the mechanic promptly.
  • Completes and submits equipment checklists daily.
  • Loads and unloads equipment from trailers, ensuring it is securely fastened.
  • Cleans equipment at the end of each job and each day.
  • Operates equipment safely at all times, prohibiting riders.
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations and practices preventive safety measures.
  • Performs general labor work as needed, including driving, shoveling, raking, rolling, and flagging.
