About The Position

The Pattern Shop Tooling Engineer designs, develops, optimizes, maintains, and manages the lifecycle of tooling used in foundry operations, including molds, patterns, cores, and fixtures. The role ensures tooling supports safe, efficient, high-quality production of cast iron products and advances improvement in quality, yield, tooling performance, and manufacturing efficiency. The engineer works with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance teams on new product development, tooling upgrades, and foundry modernization. The position supports production by troubleshooting tooling and process problems, analyzing production data, conducting trial pours, validating tooling changes, and implementing corrective actions. It also administers preventive maintenance programs, monitors tooling condition and lifecycle performance, coordinates repairs and replacements, and supports capital projects and production-capacity improvements. The engineer maintains tooling records and technical documentation, follows safety, environmental, and company policies, promotes safe work practices, communicates across departments, and keeps work areas clean and organized. Additional duties may be assigned by the Disa Pattern Maker, Machining Department Manager, or Plant Leadership. Tyler Pipe is located in Tyler, Texas, and expects team members to embody the eight principles of The McWane Way: Safety, Environment, Leadership, Accountability, Excellence, Trust, Teamwork, and Communication.
