About The Position

Ski Patrol is a team-oriented department focused on providing our guests with excellent customer service on or off the mountain. In addition to emergency rescues and mountain safety, Ski Patrollers are hosts, guides, and information centers. The primary job focus of Patrol Dispatch is to answer phones, assist aid room guests, call and dispatch patrollers as needed, and document all happenings during the day of mountain operations. Examples would be injuries, chair lift opening times, chair lift early closure times, chair lift code 9 and or code 10, lost persons, EMS ambulance and/or helicopter pickups, etc.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and to write legibly and to use good composition skills to complete records and report forms.
  • Must be aware of the ski areas terrain and facilities.
  • Mandatory EMR (Advanced CPR/First Aid/AED)
  • Computer, basic mathematical skills and good organizational skills.
  • Ability to learn and be knowledgeable of the needs of the equipment and standard procedures for its care and safe operation.
  • Must qualify through the Dodge Ridge Fleet Safety Program by possessing a valid driver’s license and passing a satisfactory DMV record check to operate a snowmobile.
  • Must be well groomed and present a good public image.
  • Good physical condition as this position requires shoveling, lifting and carrying.
  • Safety and risk oriented.
  • Requires the skills of a host. This involves approaching guests in a courteous manner, inquiring if they have any questions and being able to respond professionally.
  • Provide a positive and helpful attitude towards all our customers and all Dodge Ridge employees.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate aid room and dispatch operations using 1Risk dispatch system in an efficient and thorough manner.
  • Maintain patrol daily log, document weather data, lift open and close times, etc.
  • Review daily, all ski patrol incident report forms and report any problems to the Patrol Manager.
  • Handle emergency calls and dispatch personnel.
  • Take part in assisting with patient care and reporting problems.
  • Inventory of base patrol supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with documentation during S.A.R.
  • Assist with documentation during lift evacuations.
  • Maintain weekly summary sheet.
  • Maintain medical release forms.
  • Ensure the completion of daily patrol aid room work logs.
  • Effectively communicate with other departments as needed.
  • Maintain safe and easy access in and around the aid room.
  • Keep adequate stock of all forms utilized in patrol aid room.
  • Maintain any appropriate records as set forth by company policy and procedures.
  • Provide timely and accurate information concerning weather conditions, grooming or slope conditions and related information intended to help the guest maximize their skiing experience.
  • Communicate problems to superiors, while showing initiative in handling routine and emergency matters.
