About The Position

This is a full-time Patrol Deputy position. The role involves traffic and criminal law enforcement, supervision of inmates, court services, and civil process. Applicants must be available to work a rotating 12-hour schedule, which includes nights, weekends, and holidays, offering every other Friday- Saturday-Sunday off. The position offers a starting pay of $29.47 with a shift differential for night shifts, and potential for lateral transfer with starting pay up to $33.81 depending on years of service. Additional pay is available for various specializations such as Dual Certified (Jail and Law Enforcement), Humane Officer, Field Training Officer, WI DOJ Certified Instructor, Bilingual (Spanish), and SWAT Team Leader. Special assignment opportunities include Honor Guard, SWAT, Drug Investigator, ATV Patrol, Drone Pilot, and Crisis Negotiator. Incentive pay is offered for physical readiness.

Requirements

  • Must have completed a 720-hour law enforcement academy program certified by the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board (LESB)
  • Minimum age: 21
  • U.S. citizen (per Wis. Stats. 66.0501(2))
  • No unpardoned felony convictions, nor any offense that could be punished as a felony in Wisconsin
  • No misdemeanor convictions for domestic violence as defined in 18 USC 921(a)(33) or domestic abuse under Wis. Stats. 968.075(1)(a)
  • Must be of good character
  • Must be free from any physical, emotional, or mental conditions that would negatively affect law enforcement duties
  • Ability to meet physical performance requirements
  • Vision correctable to 20/20
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated and have the ability to work in a team environment
  • After probation, residency within 40 miles of the Green County Sheriff’s Office
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have 60 college credits and Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board Certification, or qualify for out-of-state or military law enforcement reciprocity
