About The Position

Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center is seeking a part-time Patient Transporter. The required schedule is 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., including every other weekend. The starting rate is $18.50 per hour. The Patient Transporter follows written or verbal instructions to confirm patient identity, destination, mode of travel, timing, and other details. The role escorts or transports patients within the facility, assists with luggage and safe walking, and delivers messages, mail, medical records, and other items. Other related duties may be assigned. The employee may be exposed to extreme cold and heat, must stand for long periods, and must bend, lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. Candidates must be able to read, write, and speak English to help provide a safe environment for patients.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED/equivalent.
Ability to read, write, and speak English.
Ability to work well under time constraints.
Ability to stand for long periods and to bend, lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in conditions involving possible exposure to extreme cold and extreme heat.

Nice To Haves

CPR certification.

Responsibilities

Ascertain patient name, destination, mode of travel, time, and other data, following written or verbal instructions.
Guide or escort incoming patients from the admitting office or reception desk to the designated area.
Carry patients' luggage.
Assist patients with walking to help prevent falls, or transport non-ambulatory patients using a wheelchair.
Transport patients, alone or with assistance, in a bed, wheeled cart, or wheelchair to designated areas within the facility during their stay.
Deliver messages, mail, medical records, and other items.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
