The Patient Transporter promptly and safely transports patients to and from procedures, tests, and between units according to established policies, procedures, and time schedules. This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, enhancing patient throughput and operational efficiency, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation. The role involves understanding and following all policies and procedures, determining patient identifiers, destination, mode of travel, time, and other relevant information. It includes directing or escorting incoming patients from the admitting office or reception area to designated locations and assisting patients, whether ambulatory or non-ambulatory. The transporter will move patients or deceased individuals, alone or with assistance, using beds, stretchers, gurneys, wheelchairs, or other equipment as needed. A key aspect is maintaining a safe working environment for all patients, visitors, and employees, promptly reporting unsafe conditions, accidents, or injuries to a supervisor. Participation in safety meetings, training sessions, and hazard assessments is expected, along with applying all applicable OSHA and local safety requirements to assigned work. All duties are to be performed in accordance with established safety procedures, regulations, and policy, attending designated training programs, and carrying out other responsibilities as assigned.
