About The Position

NYU Langone Health is seeking a Patient Transporter to provide safe, efficient, and customer-friendly transportation of patients by bed, stretcher, or wheelchair to destinations throughout the Medical Center. The role requires clear communication with patients and attention to identification, equipment, and transport documentation procedures.

Requirements

• Must be able to speak, read, understand, and follow simple directions in English.
• Some motor dexterity is required.
• Good interpersonal skills are necessary.
• Excellent customer service skills are required.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients by bed, stretcher, or wheelchair to areas throughout the Medical Center while providing excellent customer service.
• Communicate with patients about their destination, requests for blankets, bumps when entering or leaving elevators, elevator delays, and other transport-related information.
• Wear the assigned patient transport uniform neatly, keeping the ID card clearly visible above the waist.
• During low-volume periods, check the system periodically for pending calls; do not reject jobs, use delay flags as required, and complete each job at its destination.
• Document patient transport information on the transporter log sheet, including double identification, Ticket to Ride, and SSSI checks.
• During transport, appropriately perform SSSI equipment checks and double identification.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
