About The Position

Provides first line supervisory oversight of Patient Transporters, is responsible for orientation and training of Patient Transporters, performs competency assessments and is responsible and accountable for the dispatching and triaging of transport service requests. Ensures patient transports are conducted safely and efficiently and daily staffing needs are met to ensure the highest quality service, patient/family care, safety, and satisfaction. Will also be responsible for the scheduling of Patient Transporters. Acts as a role model and resource, providing leadership to Patient Transporters. Assures efficient and cost-effective utilization of hospital resources at the unit level. Assists manager with ensuring staff performance through coaching and contributing to yearly evaluations. Receives, triages, logs and prioritizes incoming calls into the Patient Placement Center.

Requirements

  • Minimum six (6) months of experience as a Patient Transporter in a hospital environment or minimum six (6) months of experience working within a patient placement environment such as hospital admitting, bed control, or hospital setting or equivalent experience with supervision of logistics and personnel.
  • High School Diploma/ GED or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Exhibits excellent verbal and listening skills.
  • Ability to set goals and judge results in accordance with the highest standards.
  • Ability to provide care with sensitivity and respect.
  • Ability to develop and promote positive effective customer service relations with patients, patient family members, visitors, and staff, understands and exceeds customer expectations.
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
  • Effective problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work under potentially stressful or emergent situations.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, able to quickly prioritize work assignments and complete duties in a timely and organized manner.
  • Proficient in general computer usage.
  • Flexible, innovative, and confident self-directed approach to patient and family care.
  • Identify situations, formulate solutions, initiate changes, and monitor outcomes.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of how their unit aligns with the strategic goals of the organization.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office modules, particularly Excel and Teams
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
