About The Position

Transports patients of all populations to and from examinations and treatments. Performs general errands and routine duties, including cleaning equipment and securing supplies, and contributes to quality patient care as a team member. Follows unit procedures wherever transport services are provided. The position is based at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids and is full-time, with a scheduled shift from 3:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and on-call weekends.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 90 days, as applicable to Corewell Health hospital locations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for transport and use active and passive identification procedures to verify each patient's identity before transport.
• Transport patients and equipment to and from testing and procedure areas, including inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and high-risk Intensive Care Unit areas.
• Communicate with medical employees to ensure required medical supplies and medications travel with patients, and administer oxygen when required.
• Support timely patient discharges throughout the hospital.
• Under the direction of medical employees and/or a Registered Nurse, assist with toileting ambulatory patients.
• Clean and disinfect equipment according to established policies and procedures; maintain clean work areas and return equipment to the appropriate department.
• Report malfunctioning equipment and instruments to appropriate department or unit staff.
• Perform general errands and other routine duties, including securing supplies, as required.
• Follow unit procedures and contribute as a team member in delivering quality patient care.
