About The Position

Transports all patient populations to and from examinations and treatments. Performs general errands and routine duties, including cleaning equipment, securing supplies, and other tasks as required. Works as a team member in delivering quality patient care and follows unit procedures wherever transport services are provided.

This part-time role is based at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The schedule has variable days and hours, with 8 scheduled hours per week and variable weekends.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for transport and perform active and passive identification checks to ensure patients are properly identified.
• Transport patients and equipment to and from testing and procedure areas, including inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and high-risk Intensive Care Unit (ICU) areas.
• Communicate with medical employees to ensure required medical supplies and medications are transported with patients, including administering oxygen when required.
• Support timely patient discharges throughout the hospital.
• Under the direction of medical employees and/or a Registered Nurse (RN), assist with toileting ambulatory patients.
• Clean and disinfect equipment according to established policies and procedures; maintain clean work areas and return equipment to the appropriate department.
• Report malfunctioning equipment or instruments to appropriate department or unit staff.
• Perform general errands and routine duties, including securing supplies, as required.
• Follow unit procedures and contribute to the delivery of quality patient care.
