Indiana University Health is seeking individuals who embody these values to join our patient transport leadership team in the role of Transportation Operations Manager. This position is accountable for providing supervisory leadership, operational oversight and customer support for the Transportation program across the Academic Health Center. This position will provides administrative direction and leadership of the Patient Transportation and shuttle teams and will establish the direction, implement best practices, and ensure patient satisfaction as it relates to patient and staff transportation. This position serves as a liaison to other departments, physicians and guests. This role includes 24-hour accountability. It is a fully onsite role Monday-Friday day shift with availability to round to evening and weekends and possible on call responsibilities. Seeking a dynamic, patient-focused leader to oversee both Hospital Operators and Patient Transport operations. The ideal candidate will have strong operational and people leadership experience, with the ability to manage staffing, workflow coordination, service recovery, and performance improvement across multiple departments. This individual must excel at communication, foster collaboration between teams, and maintain a high standard of customer service while ensuring safe, efficient patient movement and effective communication throughout the hospital. Experience leading frontline teams in a healthcare environment, resolving conflict, driving accountability, and utilizing data to improve performance is highly preferred. The successful candidate will be adaptable, visible, and capable of balancing day-to-day operations with strategic initiatives that enhance both the patient and team member experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in a health care related field preferred or equivalent patient transport experience in lieu of degree
  • Minimum of 5+ years experience in a combination of roles in transport demonstrating significant clinical knowledge, leadership and project management.
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulatory agency guidelines or laws relative to assigned area.
  • Ability to lead quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to plan and manage the utilization of resources.
  • Ability to apply the organizations personnel policies and procedures.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate sensitive issues with all levels of employees/management.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to promote teamwork and build effective relationships.
  • Ability to take initiative and meet objectives.
