About The Position

The Patient Transport Aide escorts patients throughout the hospital and transports medical records, specimens, schedules, and other materials between hospital departments and stakeholders. The role supports a positive patient experience and helps hospital teams function effectively. The position is based in Glens Falls, New York, and has an expected base pay range of $18.25 to $27.37 per hour. The exact rate is determined case by case based on experience, education, and certifications.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Excellent, positive communication and customer service skills.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to learn and use computers and printers for clerical tasks.
Ability to recognize and select the correct course of action in all segments of transportation.
Basic math and reading skills.

Responsibilities

Transport patients by wheelchair, stretcher, or bed, with or without special equipment.
Accompany ambulatory patients safely and efficiently.
Maintain and change oxygen and gauges daily.
Transport specimens, operating room schedules, and other items within a 20–40 minute turnaround time.
Compile appropriate statistics daily.
Stock, clean, and maintain equipment used for patient transport.
Carry patient belongings between units when patients are transferred.
Direct patients and visitors to their destinations.
Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment.
Provide instruction to New Vision students.
Repair and maintain department wheelchairs and stretchers on an ongoing basis.
Train new employees.
Assist the Director of Distribution as needed.
