About The Position

The Patient Transport Aide assists staff with patient transport and indirect patient care, helping ensure necessary supplies are delivered for continuous patient care. The role safely and efficiently transports patients to and from hospital departments and upon discharge, delivers essential supplies and equipment, and supports the smooth flow of patient care operations. Success requires physical stamina, attention to patient-handling and transport protocols, and timely, compassionate support for patients and staff.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift and transport heavy items.
• Strong English comprehension.

Nice To Haves

• Experience as a nurse assistant.

Responsibilities

• Safely and promptly transport patients between departments and upon discharge.
• Report observed changes in patient status or needs to the RN.
• Respond promptly to stat calls and requests from clinical staff.
• Conduct rounds to deliver and pick up supplies, records, specimens, X-rays, orders, and equipment in a timely manner.
• Transport patient valuables and belongings, ensuring they accompany the patient.
• Maintain department stretchers and wheelchairs in patient-ready condition.
