About The Position

Perform routine assistive tasks to assist the Registered Nurse in meeting basic patient needs as unlicensed assistive personnel. This position serves the Neonatal Intensive Care department at Richland Hospital. Team members are expected to be knowledgeable about and comply with Prisma Health's purpose: “Inspire health. Requirements

• Completion of a Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Tech, Medical Assistant, or Nursing Fundamentals course.
• Successfully complete Prisma Health unit secretary course and training within 90 days of hire.
• In lieu of school verification of a nursing assistant training course, current or former CNA certification may be accepted as proof of completed state-required training at time of hire.
• In lieu of school verification of a medical assistant training course, current or former CMA certification may be accepted as proof of completed required training at time of hire.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous nursing assistant, medical assistant, or related experience preferred.
• One year of hospital clerical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal hygiene, including bathing, washing hair, brushing teeth and hair, and washing hands.
• Assist patients with nutrition and feeding, including feeding, drinking, and setting up meal trays.
• Assist patients with ambulation, including dangling, walking, walking with an assistive device, and implementing fall-prevention measures under the direction of the registered nurse.
• Assist patients with elimination, including getting to the bathroom and using a bedside commode, bedpan, or urinal; accurately monitor inputs and outputs.
• Complete and document patient vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, heart rate, and oxygenation via pulse oximetry or ETCO2; report abnormal values to the registered nurse.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
