About The Position

The Patient Safety Attendant (PSA) participates in high-quality, patient-centered care by continuously observing and monitoring high-risk patients. In collaboration with the nursing team, the PSA helps maintain an environment free of obstacles and minimizes the risk of falls and accidental or intentional self-harm. The sitter may also assist with basic activities of daily living. The role focuses on providing an exceptional patient experience and compassionate care.

Requirements

Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
De-Escalation Training is required within the first 90 days of hire.
Must be comfortable staying with patient(s).
Must have strong attention to detail to maintain a line of sight with patients.

Nice To Haves

One or more years of experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
Experience as a transporter, patient sitter in a nursing home, or in another hands-on care position may be relevant.

Responsibilities

Maintain a direct line of sight with the patient at all times, including when family members or visitors are present.
Accompany patients and ensure their safety during transportation, testing, and procedures outside their normal environment.
Maintain a safe patient environment by applying fall-prevention protocols, infection-control measures, and self-harm-prevention practices.
Perform room assessments regularly and after visitations.
Assist with basic activities of daily living as needed.
