About The Position
The Patient Sitter position is a Per Diem role with shifts available during the day. The role is in the Medical Surgical department and involves 12-hour shifts at Harlingen Medical Center in Harlingen, TX. The primary responsibility is to maintain constant visual observation of assigned patients, assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment, and communicate patient observations to the assigned nurse. The role also requires professional communication and respect for patients, families, and healthcare team members, as well as offering support to peers and staff.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.
- Ability to communicate in English orally and in writing.
- BLS (AHA) certification required at time of hire and remain current.
Responsibilities
- Maintains constant visual observation of assigned patient.
- Assists in the provision of a safe and clean environment.
- Communicates observations of the patient’s activity and behavior on a regular basis to the assigned nurse.
- Communicates in a professional manner and demonstrates respect for patient, families/significant other and other health care members.
- Offers support to peers and staff.
