About The Position

The Patient Services Specialist (PSS) role involves handling most clerical duties associated with a medical clinic. The job is divided into "stations," each with a distinct set of duties. Every PSS employee is required to assist co-workers and is expected to learn and perform all duties of all front office stations. Due to varying office layouts, specific duties of a station may not always be performed by the person assigned to that station on a given day or week. The role requires strong copywriting and editing skills, attention to detail, the ability to consistently meet time-sensitive priorities, and high organization with flexibility for changing priorities. Other duties and projects may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED required.
  • Experience in the healthcare field is highly preferred.
  • Attention to detail with strong ability to multitask.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication skills with a wide variety of personalities.
  • Critical thinking skills including solid problem solving, analysis, decision-making, planning, time management and organizational skills.
  • Detailed oriented with the ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Developed interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, diplomacy, tact, conflict management, delegation skills, and diversity awareness.
  • Ability to work effectively with sensitive and confidential material and sometimes emotionally charged matters.
  • Good command of the English language.
  • Effective communication skills (oral, written, presentation) are an active listener, and effectively provides balanced feedback.
  • Strong customer focus.
  • Ability to build an engaging culture of quality, performance effectiveness and operational excellence through best practices, strong business and political acumen, collaboration, and partnerships, as well as a positive employee, physician and community relations.

  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands from a variety of stakeholders and sites.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.
  • Valid state Driver’s License for travel to satellite offices and offsite meetings.
  • Compliance with the company Driver Safety Operations and Motor Vehicle Records Check Policy is required.
  • Background, drug, and nicotine screens.
  • Offers of employment are contingent upon clear results of a thorough background screening.
  • As a condition of employment, FCS requires all new hires to receive various vaccinations, including the influenza vaccine, barring an approved exemption.
  • FCS is a drug-free workplace, and all new hires will be subject to drug/ nicotine testing. Medical Marijuana cards are not recognized.
