About The Position

The Patient Services Specialist at Atrium Health Northpark Family Medicine is a full-time position responsible for creating an excellent patient experience through exemplary customer service. This role involves managing patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, cash receipting, and handling patient check-in/check-out. The specialist will also assist with billing functions, maintain confidential patient information, and ensure accuracy in all front-end processes. A key aspect of this role is encouraging patient use of technology and demonstrating proficiency in emergency codes and healthcare regulations. The position requires strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to providing caring and compassionate service.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Computer experience required.
  • Customer relations experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (Spanish) Preferred
  • Experience with Medical Records Software preferred.
  • Front desk practice experience preferred.

  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills and decisive judgment in an often-hectic environment and possess the ability to work cohesively on a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Manage patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, collection and cash receipting, arrival and/or departure desk activities according to standards and guidelines ensuring accuracy and an outstanding patient experience.
  • Encourage patient utilization of front-end technology during the registration process.
  • Enter and maintain confidential and accurate patient information including patient insurance, billing, and payment information throughout patient encounter.
  • Assist with billing functions accurately and/or direct to appropriate billing office.
  • Demonstrate proficiency of emergency codes and appropriate responses as well as applicable federal and state healthcare regulations.
  • Monitor inventory and stock medications, narcotics, and emergency medications/equipment.
