About The Position

The Patient Services Specialist role at Atrium Health Charlotte PRN is a part-time position responsible for creating an excellent patient experience through exemplary customer service, efficient registration, and accurate information management. This role requires strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills to navigate sensitive patient interactions and manage a fast-paced environment. The specialist will handle patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, cash receipting, and assist with billing functions, while also ensuring the availability of necessary medical supplies and adherence to healthcare regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Computer experience required.
  • Customer relations experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Medical Records Software preferred.
  • Front desk practice experience preferred.

  • Provide exemplary interpersonal skills and ability to interact with patients and families in a wide variety of sensitive situations.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills and decisive judgment in an often-hectic environment and possess the ability to work cohesively on a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Manage patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, collection and cash receipting, arrival and/or departure desk activities according to standards and guidelines ensuring accuracy and an outstanding patient experience.
  • Encourage patient utilization of front-end technology during the registration process.
  • Enter and maintain confidential and accurate patient information including patient insurance, billing, and payment information throughout patient encounter.
  • Assist with billing functions accurately and/or direct to appropriate billing office.
  • Demonstrate proficiency of emergency codes and appropriate responses as well as applicable federal and state healthcare regulations.
  • Monitor inventory and stock medications, narcotics, and emergency medications/equipment.
