About The Position

The Patient Services Specialist at Atrium Health Lincoln Gastroenterology is responsible for providing excellent patient experiences through compassionate customer service. This role involves managing patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, cash handling, and patient check-in/check-out processes. The specialist will also assist with billing functions, maintain accurate patient information, and ensure proficiency in emergency codes and healthcare regulations. A key aspect of this role is encouraging patient use of front-end technology during registration and monitoring inventory of medications and emergency equipment.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required.
Computer experience required.
Customer relations experience required.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Medical Records Software preferred.
Front desk practice experience preferred.

Manage patient registration, insurance verification, scheduling, collection and cash receipting, arrival and/or departure desk activities according to standards and guidelines ensuring accuracy and an outstanding patient experience.
Encourage patient utilization of front-end technology during the registration process.
Enter and maintain confidential and accurate patient information including patient insurance, billing, and payment information throughout patient encounter.
Assist billing functions accurately and/or direct to appropriate billing office.
Demonstrate proficiency of emergency codes and appropriate responses as well as applicable federal and state healthcare regulations.
Monitor inventory and stock medications, narcotics, and emergency medications/equipment.
