About The Position

The Patient Services Specialist is responsible for the front-end business operations for the assigned clinic including patient registration, verification of patient demographic information, and creating and maintaining patient electronic charts. This position answers incoming calls to the clinic and routes them as needed, and schedules intake appointments within established timeframes in the CBI EHR/EPM scheduling system. The role obtains necessary demographic information including, but not limited to name, address, phone number, e-mail address, and insurance information. It also completes insurance verifications for each patient visit and identifies any patient amounts due at the time service is provided. For uninsured patients, the role identifies any potential funding source and identifies those potentially eligible for AHCCCS, referring them to the eligibility and enrollment specialist for AHCCCS screening and application. The Patient Services Specialist notifies a clinical team member when registration is completed for services to be completed and schedules follow-up appointments for clinic services as indicated by the clinical team.

Requirements

  • Highschool Diploma or GED is required
  • Must have knowledge of AHCCCS, insurance, and strong customer service skills
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Healthcare is preferred
  • 1- 3 years of experience with insurance verification and/or front desk experience in a medical office setting is preferred but not required of this position
