About The Position
UW Medical Center-Montlake's ED Registration Department has an outstanding opportunity for a Patient Services Specialist Lead. This role supports the ED Supervisor in coordinating clerical and support activities for PSS staff, serves as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure smooth communication, and provides guidance to PSS staff, including involvement in hiring, training, and performance feedback.
Requirements
- High school graduation or equivalent
- Three years of Patient Support Service experience
- Equivalent education/experience may substitute for stated requirements
Responsibilities
- Maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to departmental policies and procedures.
- Uses medical terminology and reference resources effectively; may perform billing and data entry.
- Acts as a key liaison between patients, families, providers, and hospital staff.
- Provides guidance and training to PSS staff; assists with hiring, onboarding, and scheduling.
- Oversees quality control tasks, including registration accuracy and monthly billing.
- Serves as a resource for staff, directing them to appropriate tools and resolving issues independently.
- Performs PSS 2 duties and takes on additional responsibilities in the Supervisor’s absence.
Benefits
- Evening Shift Differential: $1.75 per hour
- Night Shift Differential: $2.50 per hour
- Weekend Differential: $2.00 per hour
