About The Position

This position is responsible for collecting, verifying, and entering patient demographic, employer, financial, emergency contact, insurance, subscriber, and case-specific information into the EMR System. The role involves obtaining and interpreting patient insurance benefits, communicating this information accurately, and ensuring patients sign necessary admission documents. The representative will also perform admission notification processes, inform patients of hospital policies related to the revenue cycle, discuss financial responsibilities, and negotiate payment resolutions. Accurate account documentation and processing of patient referrals are also key duties. This is a PRN (as needed) position in the Emergency Room.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of core Microsoft suite.
  • Basic Keyboarding skills.
  • Critical thinking, sound judgment, and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Team-oriented, open-minded, flexible, and willing to learn.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritize and function effectively, efficiently, and accurately in a multi-tasking, complex, fast-paced, and challenging department.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, verify, and enter patient demographic, employer, financial, emergency contact, insurance, subscriber, and case-specific information into the EMR System with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Obtain and interpret patient insurance benefits and communicate this information accurately to patients and co-workers.
  • Ensure patients sign and scan all necessary documents for the admission process.
  • Perform admission notification (NOA) process to secure payment for inpatient stays.
  • Inform patients of hospital policies governing the revenue cycle.
  • Discuss financial responsibility, past due balances, and referral requirements with patients/guarantors, offering options and negotiating resolutions.
  • Clearly and accurately document all activity on patient accounts.
  • Receive and respond to incoming patient referrals for admission, including entry and scheduling within EPIC.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
