About The Position

The Patient Services Representative (PSR) supports the administrative functions of SVT Health & Wellness such as greeting patients and visitors, coordinating and directing patient registration, scheduling and cashiering. The PSR is responsible for effective, clear communication on the phone and in person. This role involves scheduling patients, managing schedules for Providers, updating patient files and accounts, and maintaining strict confidentiality for all clients and their families in conformity with HIPAA and PPI regulations. The position also requires attending meetings and trainings to enhance skills related to medical and dental office administrative, billing, and coding functions. A key aspect of this role is the ability to travel as required on a two-week rotation basis to other communities, including travel to and from Seldovia by small airplane and sometimes by boat when airplanes are on weather hold. While travel is typically a day trip, inclement weather may necessitate an overnight stay.

Requirements

  • Ability to work cooperatively and productively in a team environment.
  • Enjoy working within a fast-paced health and wellness care setting.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to operate general office equipment such as computers and keyboards, photocopier, fax, scanners, multiline phone systems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products like Excel and Word.
  • Ability to count money.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check including fingerprinting.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years in a medical office setting preferred.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality service to patients and customers.
  • Support administrative functions of SVT Health & Wellness.
  • Greet patients and visitors.
  • Coordinate and direct patient registration, scheduling, and cashiering.
  • Ensure effective and clear communication on the phone and in person.
  • Schedule patients and manage schedules for Providers.
  • Update patient files and accounts as necessary.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality for all clients and their families in conformity with HIPAA and PPI regulations.
  • Protect the security of all patient medical and dental records.
  • Attend scheduled meetings and trainings.
  • Travel as required on a two-week rotation basis to other communities, including to and from Seldovia by small airplane and sometimes by boat when airplanes are on weather hold.
