The Patient Services Representative is responsible for various aspects of Physician Practice front office management and operation. This role involves complete and accurate patient registration, pre-certification, charge capture, and coding diagnoses provided by physicians. Key duties include posting payments, balancing computer reports, managing public contact, enforcing financial agreements, and processing unpaid accounts. The representative acts as a liaison between patients and medical support staff, greeting patients, verifying and updating insurance information, obtaining necessary signatures, and assisting patients with ambulatory difficulties. Additional responsibilities include maintaining appointment books, providing front office phone support, screening visitors, processing vouchers and private payments, performing cashiering functions, and preparing daily cash deposits. The role also encompasses assisting with outpatient coding and error resolution, updating patient account databases, scheduling services, assembling patient charts, overseeing waiting areas, and helping patients with insurance claims, disability benefits, and other medical-related inquiries. Furthermore, the representative processes benefit correspondence, confirms workers’ compensation claims, prepares disability claims, maintains various files, researches billing information, enters charge data, and manages medical records. Collection actions, evaluating patient financial status, establishing payment plans, resolving billing complaints, and participating in educational activities are also part of the job. The position requires maintaining strict confidentiality and a professional appearance as a representative of Prisma Health Clinical Department.
