About The Position

The Patient Services Representative is primarily responsible for providing excellent attention and coordination for Home Medical Equipment (HME) clients, payers, and referral sources. Independence Plus is now hiring a full-time Patient Services Representative. This position will be based out of our Oak Brook, IL (DuPage County) office. After training, this role qualifies as a hybrid position.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree preferred or industry experience
Experience in HME billing including insurance verification, data entry skills
Must exercise good working knowledge of computer applications, word processing, spreadsheet, email, and other software programs as needed for assisting in Medical Billing
Excellent computer skills
Familiarity with medical coding
Demonstrates good communication and teamwork both within and outside the department

Responsibilities

Provides excellent patient services
Provides order intake via phone/fax
Verifies insurance, confirms orders, provides data entry for new patients
Completes Certificate of Medical Necessity (CMN’s)
Completes prior approvals and authorizations
Contacts patients for re-orders
Completes repair orders
Maintains open communication with payers, referral sources, patients, and all administrative staff
Ensures that all files are maintained according to IPI policies and reports all discrepancies to immediate supervisor
Stays informed regarding changes in billing guidelines for all payer sources and share information with appropriate IPI personnel
Researches and recommends improvements in general procedures (i.e. billing, items purchased, etc.) to streamline processes and minimize unneeded expense
Purchasing and receiving duties, as needed
Promotes home nursing and respiratory / HME referrals in the healthcare community
Complies with agency, state, federal, and CHAP policies and procedures
