About The Position

Touchstone Medical Imaging, in partnership with UPMC and Lumexa Imaging, is seeking a Patient Services Representative to join their team. This role is crucial for providing outpatient diagnostic imaging services. The Patient Service Representative greets and registers patients for their procedures, performing all necessary clerical duties to ensure accurate processing for imaging studies and billing. This is a per diem position, meaning it is on an as-needed basis, with potential for increased hours in the future. The role is primarily daytime, weekdays and weekends, between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, and is expected to be around 8 to 10 hours per week initially.

Requirements

  • Customer service background and a history of providing positive customer outcomes
  • Excellent computer skills, proficient keyboarding and data entry skills and ability to learn new systems
  • Excellent communication skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Detail oriented and ability to multitask in a busy work environment
  • Knowledge of office equipment (i.e. copy machine, scanner, fax machine, multiline telephone)
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with patients, their family members and coworkers

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an administrative healthcare position a plus
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy a plus

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients entering the center and ensure a positive customer service experience
  • Register patients by collecting/verifying patient demographic information, insurance data and referring physician information
  • Achieve accurate and complete data entry of each patient
  • Check insurance eligibility
  • Calculate deductibles and coinsurances
  • Collect and post co-pays, coinsurances and balances
  • Daily data entry/computer work
  • Keep accurate journal sheets of all payments posted
  • Schedule appointments
  • Explain studies, procedures and preps to patients
  • Answer the telephone, fax reports, request and release images
  • Contact referring physician offices as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA and Corporate Compliance regulations
  • Print and/or scan documents into patient accounts
  • Keep the work area stocked, orderly and clean
  • Release images to patients when necessary
  • Communicate information to radiologists, technologists, patients and referring physician office
  • All other duties as assigned
