About The Position

The Patient Services Representative (PSR) is primarily responsible for politely greeting patients, data entry into the practice management and other data systems; and monitoring various statistical and informational reports. The PSR duties are shared and involve tasks associated with efficient flow of patients, such as answering phones, making appointments, and registering patients. This position is at our Northview Urgent Care Clinic.

Requirements

  • Basic medical front office practices
  • Basic computer operations
  • Strong typing skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work well with people
  • Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully in English / Spanish
  • Ability to work with computers and other modern office equipment
  • Ability to work in a busy environment
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Flexibility to travel and accommodate changes in daily and hourly schedules
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Typing certificate preferred >35 wpm

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Aptitude for detail and precision
  • 2-3 years experience in medical/data processing field preferred
  • Certificated through medical front office training program preferred

Responsibilities

  • Greeting patients politely
  • Data entry into practice management and other data systems

  • Making appointments
  • Registering patients
  • Opening and closing the clinic
  • Arming and disarming alarms
  • Orienting patients to clinic policies
  • Entering, reviewing, and changing patient registration information
  • Performing daily pre-flow procedures
  • Processing patient encounters and collecting amounts due
  • Researching and answering questions on patient accounts
  • Answering incoming calls by the 3rd ring and distributing calls appropriately
  • Taking and distributing messages
  • Maintaining a neat and organized work area
  • Carrying out Health Information Representative functions as assigned
  • Participating in industry best practices and corporate quality improvement initiatives
  • Building positive relationships with staff, providers, and supportive departments
  • Adhering to GVHC Mission, Vision, and Values, Standards of Conduct and HIPPA principles
  • Other duties as assigned
