About The Position

The Senior Patient Service Representative Surgery Scheduling serves as a pivotal team member at the front end of the surgical journey, ensuring every case is accurately scheduled, complete, and ready for execution the first time. This role goes beyond traditional scheduling, driving process reliability, access optimization, and surgical readiness through consistent application and continuous improvement of standard work. This position is responsible for coordinating complex surgical scheduling across multiple orthopedic subspecialties and ensuring all required elements are in place to support a seamless perioperative experience. The Senior PSR proactively identifies workflow gaps, reduces variation, and partners cross-functionally with clinical teams, surgical optimization, and operational leaders to improve throughput and eliminate rework while maintaining a high standard of accuracy in scheduling. In addition to operational responsibilities, the Senior PSR is accountable for training and onboarding new team members. This includes leading structured onboarding, coaching on standard work, and supporting ongoing skill development to ensure consistency, accuracy, and confidence across the team. Acting as a subject matter expert and informal leader, this role strengthens communication across providers, clinics, and surgical sites ensuring alignment from order to operating room. This is a high-impact role for individuals who combine precision with systems thinking and a passion for developing others, elevating both individual and team performance to deliver safe, efficient, and patient-centered surgical care. The role also organizes day-to-day clerical function in the delivery of quality health care services and provides functional guidance to clerical staff.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5 years of relevant experience typically gained through skills/ knowledge / abilities of related experience

Responsibilities

  • Serves as, and performs functions of, Floor Coordinator.
  • Oversees development and delivery of functional training to clerical staff.
  • Responsible for auditing and developing action plans for process improvement.
  • Performs tracking and trending audits within department/practice.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert/resource to the department/practice.
  • Possesses the ability to perform the roles of Patient Services Representative, Associate and Intermediate roles when necessary.
  • Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
