About The Position

This role involves collecting specimens, managing patient data, and ensuring accurate billing and processing. The Patient Services Representative/Phlebotomist will be responsible for a variety of tasks including specimen collection (drug screens, blood samples, pathology, and cytology), data entry, payment collection, and maintaining logs. The position requires adherence to company policies and procedures, including safety and quality assurance manuals. Training and staying updated on the latest phlebotomy techniques are essential. The role may also involve travel for meetings and participation in special projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
  • One year phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Customer service in a retail or service environment preferred.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, blood samples, and processing pathology and cytology samples.
  • Research test/client information and confirm/verify all written and electronic orders using lab technology systems or directory of services.
  • Complete all data entry requirements accurately, including patient registration and test order entry from requisitions.
  • Enter billing information and collect payments when required, safeguarding assets and credit card information.
  • Perform data entry and process specimens, including labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing as required.
  • Work iLabs for assigned accounts daily to ensure accurate data for billing.
  • Provide necessary CIR and PPE Resolution reporting to the Director as required and scheduled.
  • Perform departmental-related clerical duties such as data entry, inventory, stocking supplies, and answering phones.
  • Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies, protocols, and procedures, ensuring staff follow instructions.
  • Perform verification of patient demographic information and initials, including patient signature post-venipuncture, to confirm tube labeling accuracy.
  • Assist with the compilation and submission of monthly statistics and data.
  • Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs in a timely manner, such as maintenance and temperature logs.
  • Complete training courses and stay up-to-date with the latest phlebotomy techniques.
  • Travel to Territory Manager meetings if held off-site or off normal shift.
  • Participate in special projects and teams.
  • Stay up-to-date on company communications.
