About The Position

Sentara Independence, in Virginia Beach, is seeking a Patient Services Coordinator to join the Sleep Center! This role is responsible for developing care plans, coordinating patient care services, and ensuring patients receive the necessary medical treatment. They consult with healthcare providers, evaluate patient progress, and assist with securing funding for medical care. This position coordinates activities for specific practices, including insurance verification/obtaining pre-certification, scheduling, pre-registration and order transmission, with the purpose of ensuring maximum reimbursement and reducing denials related to incomplete insurance information and/or authorization. The role also maintains statistics and acts as a liaison between clinical testing sites and offices.

Requirements

• High School Grad or Equivalent (Required)
• Previous healthcare experience (Required)
• Two years’ experience in a healthcare environment
• Completion of a healthcare related certificate program
• Associate degree or higher
• 1 year or more in a call center, customer service position

• Two of the following skill levels are strongly preferred: Two years’ experience in a healthcare environment, Completion of a healthcare related certificate program, Associate degree or higher, Transferable skills such as 1 year or more in a call center, customer service position
