About The Position

As a Patient Services Associate (PSA) in the Perinatal Clinic at UAMS, the primary responsibilities include providing front desk support by greeting patients, checking them in and out, verifying insurance and demographic information, and collecting co-pays. The PSA schedules and manages appointments, answers phone calls, and communicates with patients and clinical staff to ensure efficient coordination of care. They assist in maintaining accurate medical records, preparing patient charts, and supporting the overall flow of the clinic. This role requires strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work compassionately with patients experiencing high-risk pregnancies, all while adhering to HIPAA and UAMS policies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Plus one (1) year Patient Care in a health care setting.
  • Excellent communication skills, basic computer skills, strong work ethics and accountability.
  • Successful completion of patient care technician course is required within 3 months of employment.
  • Persons must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an acute care setting.
  • Healthcare/Patient Care experience.
  • CPR Certified/Licensed.

Responsibilities

  • Assists patients with direct patient care.
  • Accepts direction from RN and team members and follows through on delegated patient care activities.
  • Provides appropriate grooming/oral hygiene and comfort measure and assists patients with mobility-related activities.
  • Accurately and promptly documents all patient care tasks, vital signs, ADL, wave tests, and I & O's per unit and department standards.
  • Obtains patient report and communicates with RN regarding patient care.
  • Informs nurse of patient requests or complaints.
  • Carries out Plan of Care for patient using a Multidisciplinary Approach delegated by Team Leader.
  • Communicates effectively with other team members to facilitate patient care.
  • Assists patients and visitors with information and/or solutions to problems.
  • Serves as a resource to support department member in performance of duties.
  • Notifies appropriate staff of problems requiring prompt intervention.
  • Assists with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
  • Transports patients to other areas of the hospital as directed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
