This role serves as the initial point of contact for clients and referring veterinarians, facilitating appointment scheduling and acting as a liaison between clients, referring veterinarians, and Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) personnel. The assistant will support all support staff in daily client interactions, act as a contact for emergencies and facility issues, and interact with Virginia Tech Police and other outside agencies. The position supports the Large and Small Animal Patient Receiving and Medical Records departments in registration and medical record processing. The individual must be able to calmly and quickly handle various emergencies and contact the proper personnel for assistance. General office duties include filing, faxing, copying, scanning, and uploading forms. Occasional after-hours telephone support is also required. Strong communication skills are essential for interacting with referring veterinarians, clients, faculty, staff, and students. The role requires maintaining a calm and pleasant demeanor, and the ability to multitask effectively. This position serves many areas with the goal of ensuring optimum care and attention for the patient, client, and referring veterinarian. This position is considered essential personnel and employees are expected to report to work if the University is closed due to inclement weather.
