About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation is seeking a Full Time Patient Service Specialist (PSS) to float between multiple outpatient clinics. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, flexible, and able to work independently or with others. This entry-level position requires a self-starter who can provide outstanding customer service and manage various administrative tasks efficiently. The role involves processing referrals, scheduling patients, completing intake and data entry, verifying insurance, obtaining authorizations, reviewing benefits with patients, collecting copays, generating billing reports, and other administrative duties as needed. The PSS will also coordinate patient appointments to minimize cancellations and support treatment adherence, register patient information accurately in the electronic medical record, and maintain medical documents. Responsibilities include reconciling and posting charges daily, responding to information requests, managing office supplies, and handling mail. A willingness to adjust schedules to meet center needs and travel to other sites for coverage is essential.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required.

Responsibilities

  • Process referrals, schedule patients, and complete the intake process.
  • Perform data entry, insurance verification, and obtain authorizations.
  • Review patient benefits and financial responsibilities.
  • Collect copays and reconcile/post charges daily.
  • Coordinate patient appointments to minimize cancellations and support treatment adherence.
  • Register patient information, ensuring all forms are complete and accurate in the electronic medical record.
  • Scan and maintain medical documents.
  • Generate billing reports and other reporting to ensure clean claim processing.
  • Respond to requests for information from patients, other departments, and physicians.
  • Maintain office, order supplies, and manage mail.
  • Adjust schedule to center needs.
  • Travel to non-home location centers or other sites for coverage when necessary.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings and in-service education programs.
