About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation is seeking a Patient Service Specialist (PSS) for their Frisco, TX location (Day Neuro Hub). This is a full-time position with varying hours between Monday and Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. The compensation is dependent on the candidate's years of experience and internal equity, with a starting salary range of $18 - $25 per hour. The role requires a customer service-oriented individual who is detail-oriented and can thrive in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include managing patient check-in and check-out, insurance verifications, scheduling, report generation, faxing, scanning, and other general office duties. The PSS will be responsible for providing outstanding customer service, coordinating patient appointments to minimize cancellations and support treatment adherence, registering patient information accurately in the electronic medical record, verifying insurance and obtaining authorizations, explaining benefits and financial responsibilities, collecting patient payments, maintaining medical documents, reconciling and posting charges, responding to information requests, and managing office supplies and mail. The position also requires a willingness to adjust schedules to meet center needs and the ability to travel to non-home locations for coverage when necessary. Attendance at all mandatory meetings and in-service education programs is also required.

Requirements

  • Register patient information, ensuring all forms are complete with signatures and accurate information documented in the electronic medical record
  • Verify patient insurance, obtaining required authorizations before patient visit and explains benefits, financial responsibilities, billing, and outpatient policies
  • Collect toward patient responsibility at each visit
  • Scan and maintain medical documents
  • Reconcile and post charges daily and other reporting to ensure clean claim processing
  • Respond to all request for information from patients, other department and physicians
  • Maintain office, order supplies and manage mail
  • Willingness to adjust schedule to center needs
  • Travel to non-home location center or other site for coverage when necessary
  • Attend all mandatory meetings and in-service education programs
